Butterflies

This morning I was going through some of my images for this year's Side Walk Art Festival and I came across some butterfly pictures I had taken last year. For my son's birthday last spring he got a butterfly farm. It was really cool. It came with a mesh cage and caterpillars. We spend the next couple weeks watching the caterpillars eat and turn into cocoons. When they hatched into butterflies I took a bunch of pictures. The first two pictures were taken in my parent's basement. I brought inside some flowers from my mom's garden that she hadn't planted yet, set up one of my studio lights with a white reflector on the other side, put the lights around a card table that had the flowers on it and took a white piece of cloth and taped it to the wall, table and chair. I then sat in the chair (under the fabric) and put one of the newly hatched butterflies on the flowers. It couldn't really fly yet but I had the fabric as a safety net just in case. I didn't want it to get away. I had a lot of fun. After we went outside and let the butterflies go. My boys and I took turns taking pictures of them. The third and forth pictures are one I took outside.
